The cercanías trains coming from the north often change direction in Chamartín -- without updating the schedule and without telling people in the train. The system has become unusable and I will switch to using the car.

Horrible station although they are in the process of modernising it. If you have baggage or kids or if you are an elderly person avoid this station.
Another problem is that the station is basically always packed at the time when people go to work or come from work. There are just not enough trains. And the trains are always later because always something happens. The rail network in general seems to be in a very poor condition.
